The theme of IWD in 2014 is Inspiring Change - tell us about one woman you think has inspired change in the world
Kathleen Hanna, who was at the forefront of the 90’s Riot Grrl movement and a member of Bikini Kill, Le Tigre and The Julie Ruin has inspired much change in my world personally as well as shaping more broadly views, attitudes and politics around contemporary music. I believe that she reinvigorated the feminist movement, broadening it’s appeal to teenage girls of that era. On a personal level, during my teens Bikini Kill spoke to me in a way that very few other bands could.
Girls to the Mic is a joint initiative of the Digital Radio Project and Community Radio Network at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia
