Ozlem Ozturk
Contributor
Co-Producer of JOY 94.9's IWD Special Broadcast

Ozlem began her love affair with community radio spinning ridiculously long alternative tracks at the age of 13 on the nurturing North West FM, before joining the SYN family as an Executive Producer for Panorama. Picking up reporting and producing gigs with the ‘Aunty’ during her early 20’s, Ozlem packed her bags on a quest to discover her roots. After living in Turkey for several years - returning more confused about her identity - she is now at home in Melbourne and a proud JOY 94.9 member and volunteer, producing Pets-A-Loud for The Lost Dogs’ Home.

What does feminism mean to you?
My interpretation of feminism is quite personal. For me, at this stage in my life, feminism is about continuing the good fight not only in my community, but within my home, within my family and within my mind – for I believe, change begins within.
Girls to the Mic is a joint initiative of the Digital Radio Project and Community Radio Network at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia
