Monique Sebire
Girls to the mic! Producer

Monique developed a love of community broadcasting as a TV and radio presenter/producer at Melbourne’s SYN and as a volunteer at PBS’s “Drive Live” gigs. She is also a regular contributor to online publications Tone Deaf and The Music, and since moving to Sydney to work at the CBAA she has also tried her hand at storytelling for All The Best.

What do you think the biggest obstacle facing women today is?
I think on a day-to-day basis, women still struggle to be recognised for anything before their appearance. From politicians to entertainers, often the first thing you’ll hear about a woman is what she looked like or what she wore. Women need to be judged in the same way men are; seen for what they do and what they strive for.

Girls to the Mic is a joint initiative of the Digital Radio Project and Community Radio Network at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia
