Heidi Pett
Backchat with AH Cayley and Heidi Pett, 11am - 12pm

Heidi's a radio journalist based in Sydney where she's the Executive Producer and co-host of Backchat, FBi Radio's politics show and your alternative to talkback. She's also one half of the Features Executive Producer of national storytelling show All The Best, a role she shares with her best mate. Heidi Pett is very pleased with this arrangement.

When was the first time you remember identifying yourself as a feminist?

I don't really remember a moment when a light switched on. Probably in year six, perched on the backseat of the school bus arguing with somebody about whether or not I had to start shaving my legs yet. Or maybe as an eight year old who strongly believed that girls could too play the trombone. Actually if I'm honest I would have been six or seven, pissing off the roof of our cubby house with my brother and all the neighbourhood boys, defending the rights of girls to participate in such fun activities as standing up to wee over the fence.
Girls to the Mic is a joint initiative of the Digital Radio Project and Community Radio Network at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia
